Firehouse Supply Project

Every year a firehouse filled with 33 to 70 men and women, is given approximately one palette of cleaning supplies and around $600 dollars to purchase all the needed equipment for the firehouse for one year. This includes everything; soap to clean their trucks, printer paper, toilet paper etc. Members of a house are required to chip in around $50 dollars a pay cycle to pay for additional house needs. Additional money is also used to pay for the wake, collation and to support the family of a fallen brother. This is usually not a financial burden with only an average of 6 -8 members losing their lives a year. However, with the 343 brave members of the Fire Department lost in this tragedy a burden has been placed on members of these houses. In some cases they have to put in several hundred dollars each. We are trying to ease this burden by supplying items that are normally bought with the commissary money such as cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products. We take in products and sort them into firehouse kits such as 36 toothpaste and 36 toothbrushes. The following is a list of items needed by different houses.
